Wahgwan guys!
Welcome back to AMA TALK. Today, I had the honor of collaborating with Hair and Space Salon located in College Park, Maryland on the campus of University of Maryland and it was soooo much fun!
First of all, the ambiance ✅, the decor ✅, professionalism ✅, Black-owned ✅ and knowledge of all things hair ✅
Today, I specifically worked with Sadetra who‘s an AMAZING hairstylist, super stylish and beautiful!
At Hair + Space there isn't any cattiness like I have previously experienced at some black salons where you feel like everyone is staring at you or even worse keke'ing behind your back or better yet in front of your face.
Regina is the owner and she is super sweet and extremely personable as well!
Today, I went in for a blow out and I added clip in natural hair extensions from @betterlength. Before you even think it, no I am not obsessed with length I actually used to be bald head for a long time before I started growing my hair out...
I am so glad that they were willing to allow me to bring in my own extensions and add them. Instead of cornrowing my hair underneath Sadetra did this little teasing trick!
Check it out!
I can do my own hair but by no means am I a hairstylist so my mind was kinda of blown by this hair tip!
Omg, before hair and space I never knew the actual difference between a blowout and a silk press. Sadetra explains it so simply!
Hair and Space also offers manicures now which is super genius to me because in this pandemic its not safe to jump from salon to salon. Now, Hair and Space is a one stop shop and I AM HERE FOR IT.
The girls have requested that I share my hair regimen here it is:
Castor Oil with Peppermint (I have a really dry scalp and dandruff accumulates so this helps me a whole lot)
Aloe Vera plant (prior to washing my hair I section it into 4 parts and rub the aloe vera gel in between that helps me get a deeper clean)
Fenugreek Seeds (my baby sister makes her own hair oil and we are all testing it out to see how it helps with our hair growth and let's just say the proof is in the pudding [see picture below]) so what we do is strain the seeds and add it to whatever oil you use and put it in a spray bottle. When my hair is dry I do a cute lil spritz to get the curls goin'
After washing and conditioning my hair I give it a GOODT massage to stimulate those hair follicles to grow baby grow!
Last but not least, when I shower and my natural hair is out I love to sprinkle some Luke warm water in there so it stays nice and moisturized. When your hair is dry and brittle it breaks off easily and that's not cute #amatip
Literally Hair + Space has become my new fave salon. I am officially a #spacegal and I aint nevaaa going back! Wanna book your next blow out ? Click here sis, you won't regret it and tell em Ama sent you!
Xoxo,
Ama O.
Thanks sis!!! And I know right I love that part of the salon! I think when it comes to black hair it’s taken a lot of us to learn to love and embrace our hair so glad we are on this #naturalhairjourney together 🤎
I ain’t mad sis, your hair is fabulous. That’s a nice salon, looks clean and open. The “You Glow Girl” on the window is very encouraging. As a fellow naturalista, embracing all my naps and kinks, seeing this sign while getting my hair done will make me feel happy and proud.
